Opportunities and Challenges

Current economic, social and political forces in Alberta have created an opportunity for change. Within our region we have seen communities with dramatic growth while others maintain or slowly see their population decline. Developing and maintaining local community services will be a continuing challenge within a large rural region such as the Northeast. Within the region we have a community service system and infrastructure to support services to individuals and families, which has developed over a number of years. As with any system that has evolved with time, we will need to identify the key elements, which position us for the future. The challenge before us is to develop a service approach that ensures sustainable community-based support systems for individuals and families today and into the future.

All services that we provide are based on the individuals wishes, goals, strengths and need. Within each service, a personalized program is developed to assist and encourage individuals to fulfill their goals and become an integral part of the community.
